If you’re starting out in the construction industry as a trainee, obtaining an entry level Red CSCS Card will make it easier for you to show a future employer you can work safely on site.
This card will prove that you are following the right course of training and that you have the competence to complete the assigned tasks. It will also hold details of your qualifications, demonstrating that you have fulfilled the industry requirements and understand the rules and regulations attached to your role.
Starting 1st August 2016 the Trainee (Craft & Operative) card and the Trainee Technical, Supervisory and Management (TSM) card will no longer be issued. CSCS now only issues one Trainee card, which requires you to be registered for a CSCS recognised construction qualification.
SSSTS, SMSTS and NEBOSH General will no longer be accepted as routes to a Trainee card.
This card is ideal if you have just started working in construction as a trainee.

In order to receive the card you will also need to have completed the Health & Safety Test relevant to your trade in the last 2 years.
This card will expire after five years and is non-renewable.
