CPCS A16 Industrial Forklift

What is the course?

The CPCS A16 Industrial Forklift course has been designed to provide applicants with a complete practical and theoretical understanding of how to safely operate an industrial forklift. The course enables the candidate to have all the tools, with which to pass the CPCS Theory and Practical Tests.

Course Content

The role and responsibilities of a plant operator
Understanding the principle components, construction and controls of an industrial forklift
Regulations, legislation and the operators’ handbook
Safety checks pre-use
Configuration for travel, how to manoeuvre in small spaces safely and effectively
Understanding the actions relating to hazards, overhead and underground services
Understanding transfer and loads at different volumes, heights and locations
Mechanisms of safe placing and removal of loads
How to maintain safe and tidy working areas
Shut down and securing procedures
Loading and unloading for machine transporting

How is the Course Taught and Assessed?

The CPCS A16 Industrial Forklift course is taught through a combination of both classroom and practical lessons. Tests are carried out in both spheres.

Who Should Take This Course?

This course is suitable to any potential operators who have received no formal training in relation to operating an industrial forklift, and existing operators who require a refresher course.

What Qualification Will I Receive?

Upon successful completion of this course and CPCS technical tests, candidates will be awarded a CPCS Red Trained Operator Card.

Entry Requirements

Before applying for this course, candidates must have completed a CITB Health, Safety and Environment (HS&E) test within two years prior of the course. Applicants must have a good level of written and spoken English.
