The CPCS A09 Course has been designed to provide candidates with all the knowledge and skills they need to safely and effectively operate a Forward Tipping Dumper. It is a stepping-stone to passing the CPCS Theory and Practical certification.
The course is taught through a combination of practical and theory elements within the classroom. Candidates are assessed on both counts with examinations at the end of the course.
This course is ideal for existing and potential operators who have had no formal training, or who require an update to their training. It is suitable for those with less than 3 years industry experience, or 2 years experience operating a Forward Tipping Dumper.
There are two specific subtypes available to operatives on this course:
Depending on the level of experience for candidates the course length differs. For novice candidates the length of the course is 4 days, for semi-experienced it is 3 days and for experienced candidates the course length is just 2 days.
The CPCS A09 course provides foundation training for operatives seeking a Construction Plant Competence Scheme (CPCS) Red Trained Operator Card.
Within two years immediately prior to undertaking this course, candidates must have passed a CSCS Operatives Health and Safety Test.
The next step is to undertake the completion of courses to be awarded the certification as a Red Trained Operator within CPCS.
