NVQ Plumbing Level 1
NVQ Plumbing Level 1 covers the basic theory and practical skills needed to be an apprentice plumber. While you learn the basics of pipe bending; pipe jointing; system design; and installation, you’ll also be taught the relevant health and safety. Modules in the NVQ in plumbing Level 1 course include overall information about pipe systems and components; plus information delivered with specific regard to individual types of system. You’ll learn about gutters and rain pipes; sanitary systems; household appliances; and taps. You’ll also learn how to diagnose and fix blockages and leaks.
NVQ Plumbing Level 2
NVQ Plumbing Level 2 aims to take the apprentice plumber and provide him or her with the skills he or she needs to become a fully qualified plumber. In addition to the normal health and safety components, and the system design and repair components, the Level 2 in the NVQ in plumbingaddresses customer care and service quality. As you progress through the qualification you should start to gain an understanding of how your service delivery makes your business more successful.
Practical modules covered in Plumbing NVQ Level 2 include all major system installations (hot and cold water; sanitary; and heating); the maintenance and repair of major systems; and system commissioning and decommissioning.
NVQ Plumbing Level 3
NVQ Plumbing Level 3 is designed for plumbers who want to take their formal qualifications to the final level. Once you have achieved a Level 3 Plumbing NVQ you will be able to start your own plumbing business.
Level 3 tackles the more complex incarnations of the major systems. As you go through the course you will become familiar with the design, installation and repair of complicated hot water, sanitation and central heating systems. You’ll be able to install and service boilers and will achieve a thorough understanding of overall service planning and system development.
In order to successfully complete a Plumbing NVQ at Level 3 you will need to augment your qualifications with a Gas Safe registration. You can’t work professionally with boiler installation, maintenance or repair unless you have one.
You’ll learn about employment responsibilities and rights on the NVQ in plumbing Level 3, too, enabling you to set up your own business with open eyes.
